Our International President Mahendra Amarasuriya has chosen "Making a Difference through the Challenge to Change" as his theme for this Lions year of 2007-2008.

I believe that unless we "take the bull by the horns"  and accept the "challenge to change" our wonderful organizaiton of Lions Clubs as we know it will slowly disappear.

And so, I challenge every Club in the District to really try this year to bring the Spirit of Lionism to the fore, re-vitalize our Clubs and make recruiting new quality members a priority.

I would like you all to consider the possibility of forming a Leo Club in your community - this is where the future of Lionism lies. I am also asking that your Club make a conscious effort to keep up to date with MMR's and the payment of International, MD'A' and District dues. This is so important, as it enables you, as Lions, to receive the service you need and deserve.

Campaign Sight First II is now in it's final year. Almost 100 million of the 150 million target has been realized. As well as Club contributions a District fund-raiser will take place in support of this campaign and your participation would be greatly appreciated.

The Cabinet and I look forward to serving you, and I thank each and everyone who has stepped forward to take a Cabinet position or serve as a Committee Chair. As District Governor, I am available for any suggestions or comments you may have. Let's keep the lines of communication open.

To millions of people around the world you Lions, Lioness and Leos are truly the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

I wish you all a happy, fun-filled, and productive year, as we serve those less fortunate than ourselves.

Sincerely,
District Governor Lion Myra
