Lion Myra was born in Northern Ireland. She and PDG Lion Hilary were married in 1963, immigrated to Canada in 1965, and became Canadian citizens in 1980.

They first lived in Hamilton Ontario, but after two years moved to Blind River. They have a daughter and two sons and six granddaughters.

Lion Myra was trained as a florist, and after working in a flower shop for several years, took on the position of Club manager of the newly constructed Huron Pines Golf Club. After three years there, she opened her own flower shop and operated the business for eleven years, retiring in March 1999.

Lion Myra has always been very active in her community, as organist at her Church, and holding the positions of President of the local Ladies Golf and Curling Clubs, and Chair of Interchurch Council. She is a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was Secretary to the Board of Directors at the Blind River Curling Club, for 4 years.

Lion Myra joined the Blind River Lions Club in April 1997. She was elected Secretary for 1998/99 and held that position until 2003 when she became President of the Club, attaining the 100% President's Award. She returned to being Secretary and has been awarded with 100% Secretary honours for each year she has served in that capacity. Lion Myra has been a very active member of the Club serving on numerous committees and projects and has been voted Lion of the Year, three times, by her fellow Club Members. She is also a Certified Guiding Lion.

Lion Myra was elected Zone Chairperson for 31E in April 2004, Region 31 Chair in April 2005, Vice District Governor in April 2006, and District Governor in April 2007.
